Putin informed João Lourenço about the objectives of the “special operation” to protect Donbass

The Russian President this Thursday informed his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, about the objectives of the "special military operation to protect Donbass" and about the negotiations with Ukraine, at which the "friendly relationship" between both countries was marked.

Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone with João Lourenço, on the initiative of the Angolan President, as reported by the Kremlin press service.

According to the Russian agency RIA Novosti, at the request of João Lourenço, President Putin "informed about the causes and objectives of the special military operation to protect the Donbass and also made fundamental assessments of the situation of negotiations with Ukrainian representatives".

The "satisfaction with the level of friendly relations reached was expressed by both sides", indicates the Russian agency.

"Commitments to its development, including cooperation in the commercial, economic, scientific and technical spheres" were also highlighted in the conversation, he added.

João Lourenço also spoke with the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Mario Draghi, aiming at an "immediate ceasefire and a return to talks" due to the conflict in Ukraine.

The President spoke with both leaders at different times and the dialogue, as mentioned in a press release.
