Russia recognizes Angola's position in favor of peace

Russia recognized Angola's role in promoting peace, considering that its neutral position regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine benefits the implementation of peace.

The Russian ambassador to Angola, Vladimir Taravov, quoted in a note made available on Facebook CIPRA, considered that Angola's neutral status regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine "favors the establishment of peace in that region of the world".

Speaking at the end of a meeting with the President, João Lourenço, the ambassador said that the meeting did not discuss issues related to the war, but the meeting served to "confirm Angola's neutral status".

"This statute greatly favors the establishment of peace. It always calls for a conversation and negotiation between the parties, so that security and peace can be achieved as soon as possible in this territory of the world", he underlined.

According to the note, the audience also evaluated the possibilities of developing "broader" cooperation between Angola and Russia, after easing the limitations imposed by the pandemic.

Vladimir Taravov also expressed his country's interest in cooperating with Angola in the economic, political, humanitarian, cultural and staff training sectors.

"I found in the figure of the President of the Republic of Angola a person eager to make Angola a more prosperous country, a more economically developed country", he said.

The diplomat also "highlighted Angola's intention to maintain good relations of cooperation with all countries without exclusion", completes the note.
