Government is going to privatize CIF group's cement plant and brewery

The Government will proceed with the sale of the cement plant and the brewery of the CIF group, planning to launch the privatization process by July this year. The information was provided by João Sienguele, head of the privatization and company restructuring department at the Instituto de Gestão de Activos e Participações do Estado (IGAPE).

According to the official, it is expected that the privatization processes of 21 assets in the industry sector will be launched during this quarter: "By July 2022, it is expected the sale or at least the launch of about 21 processes, that taking into account the industry sector", he said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

Within the list of assets to be privatized, João Sienguele highlighted the cement company CIF and the brewery CIF, as well as Sécil Lobito.

"Within the assets that we are currently in the preparation phase of the planned launch, we then highlight 15 units from the special economic zone, that is, the fourth wave of privatization of the units in the economic zone, we also highlight the CIF industrial units, speaking of the CIF cement plant, the CIF brewery and also, without neglecting Sécil Lobito, which will remain located in the city of Lobito. So, they are a set of assets that are currently in the preparation phase or in progress with a view to launch in the current quarter", he said, quoted by RNA.

Regarding the sale of these companies, the head of the privatization and restructuring of companies at IGAPE indicated that this will take place through a public tender. "The procedure defined for these assets is the public tender, in which the terms are clearly foreseen in the public contracts law, in which it will be open to all interested parties", he indicated.
