According to Angop, the first lady also took advantage of the occasion to deliver an ambulance and 25 kits for traditional midwives.

Directed towards the care of pregnant women and children, the center has five blocks, including a pharmacy, pediatrics, maternity and nursery, among others.

Valued at around 140 million kwanzas, the construction of the unit – installed in a space of 3000 square meters – started in 2019, as a result of an initiative by the Lwini Foundation, within the scope of its health, social and medical assistance program, writes Angop.

The center has 50 professionals from different specialties, chosen by the Ministry of Health for the infrastructure to start operating.

The importance of the center in that district was highlighted by the municipal health director, Isabel Massocolo, who said that diseases such as malaria and malnutrition are the most common in the region, adding that the unit will allow for quick action by professionals.
