Lobito: Cine Imperium has a new 'face' and has already reopened to the public

Cine Imperium, in Lobito, gained a new “face”. The importance of the cinema building was recognized by the board of directors of the Caminho-de-Ferro de Benguela (CFB) which decided to give a new image to the infrastructure, which has already reopened to the public.

:

"Passing through the restinga and looking fleetingly at the building, the first visual impact is that of a building that has gained a new 'face', an image that welcomes all citizens who visit the sandbank area, a place that little by little tries to rescue the mystique of the noble area of the city of Lobito", can be read in a note from the CFB.

Recognizing this importance, the CFB's board of directors decided to "give a new image" to the infrastructure, "which dignifies workers and the city as a whole".

It should be noted that the cinema was closed for a period of time because of the covid-19. However, the note adds that it has already reopened to the public with various cultural activities.

Built in the 1950s in an Art Deco style, the cinema is owned by the CFB. The note also notes that of all the cinemas that exist in the country, the Imperium is the only one "that still keeps in its collection relics of old projection machines".
