"Imports, in general, decreased in 2020 by more than 30 percent and imports of foodstuffs decreased by more than 20 percent," said the official, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
According to Manuel Nunes Júnior, these figures show that "national production is gradually starting to occupy its space in terms of meeting the country's needs".
The minister, who was speaking at the inauguration of the new board of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce, took the opportunity to ask the new management to do the same or better than the previous board.
In turn, Arlando Calado, outgoing president of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce said that he leaves the organization managed to resist and that he leaves the chamber with what was possible to do.
The new president, Luís Cupenala, says the objective is to bet on the quality of the products to move forward with exports: "To create conditions so that Angolan companies, whether they are affiliated to the chamber or not, can actually sign cooperation contracts with Chinese companies to make our products, add value, so they can be exportable to the international market".
