Operator Zap says suspension of TV channel is "unjust and unjustifiable" error

Telecommunications operator Zap, which suspended its Zap Viva channel at 00:00 on Wednesday, by government decision, says that this is an "unjust and unjustifiable mistake" and hopes to return to normality "in the next few hours".

:

The statement from Zap, operator owned by Finstar, owned by businesswoman Isabel dos Santos, says it is making efforts with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information and Social Communication Technologies (Mintics) and the National Directorate for Information and Institutional Communication (DNICI) to clarify the facts that led to the notification for the suspension of the channel.

Zap adds that it has delivered several documents that prove that, over the past three years, "it has taken the most diverse steps" to comply with the legal and regulatory procedures applicable to its content production activity and has limited itself to following the guidelines issued by the agency responsible for regulation.

"This explanation is due to everyone, and in particular to our customers, employees and partners who trust Zap, and we want them to know the whole truth", underlines the company, hoping that "in the next few hours the mistake made, unjust and unjustifiable , of which the Zap Viva channel was targeted, can be corrected and normality be restored ".

In addition to Zap Viva, the channels Vida TV and Record TV África also suspended the broadcasts at 00:00 as determined by Mintics.

The guardianship also decided to suspend the provisional registration of newspapers, magazines, websites and radio stations with no effective activity in the last two years after detecting "legal non-conformities", according to a statement released on Monday.

According to Mintics, the companies that provide pay-TV, TV Cabo, DSTV Angola and Finstar (owner of Zap TV), although they are duly legalized, distribute the channels Zap Viva, Vida TV and Rede Record "without registering for the exercise of the activity television in Angola ", so the channels Zap Viva and Vida TV have to ensure their" broadcasting ".
