The data were advanced by the vice-chancellor for the scientific area and postgraduate studies at the Private University of Angola, José Ribeiro, in the presentation of the study on "The state of play of SARS-COV-2 in Angola", at the information point for updating the data from the pandemic in the country this Thursday, in Luanda.

The specialist believes that returning to school is one of the reasons for the high rise in the number of positive cases, says a statement to which VerAngola had access.

His study also reveals that women aged 40 to 49 have also been largely infected with the SARS-COV-2 virus in the past two months.

"It has significantly reduced the number of men in practically all age groups. It is worrying and we must now monitor very closely, to prevent further infections from schools," he added.

Through graphics, the specialist demonstrated that the speed of transmission of the pandemic in Angola is "very high" and considered it necessary for the country to get out of the daily average of 200 positive cases, in order not to reach the peak of this second wave more quickly. and more intense.

"We cannot allow this rate of infections to continue. We have to keep it below 0.4 percent at least," he recommended.
