Covid-19: 232 more new cases in Angola, the highest in almost six months

Angola registered in the last 24 hours more 232 cases of covid-19, the highest value in almost six months, and four deaths, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the health authorities released Tuesday.

Not since November 9, 2020, when 247 infections were reported, had the numbers of new cases been this high, although since last week there have been three days with more than 200 infected.

The new cases were reported in Luanda (218), Huambo (6), Benguela (2), Namibe (2), Bengo (2), Huila (1) and Malanje (1), aged between 7 months and 87 years, with 121 males and 111 females.

Four deaths (Angolans, aged between 48 and 84 years) were also reported and 53 people recovered from the disease.

The laboratories processed 2766 samples by RT-PCR for a cumulative 494,164 tests.

Angola totals 25,942 cases, including 587 deaths, 23,241 recovered from the disease, 2014 active and 168 hospitalized patients.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,122,150 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 147.7 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
