Vaccination advances: more than 5,000 companies enroll employees to be immunized

There were more than five thousand public and private institutions that registered their workers for the vaccination process against covid-19.

The information, provided by the national director of Public Health, Helga Freitas, also accounts for 665,463 employees of these same institutions registered in the system.

It is also known that, to date, approximately 479,500 health and education professionals, staff from the security and public order forces, the elderly and patients with comorbidities have been vaccinated.

Also according to Helga Freitas, cited by Angop, citizens vaccinated to date represent about 80 percent of those foreseen for the first phase.

Health authorities expect the administration of the second dose of the vaccine in May, and should then start the next vaccination phase, which includes those over 40 years of age.

Also expected in May is the arrival of a batch of 20 million vaccines against covid-19 from pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson (4 million doses), Pfizer (1 million doses) and Sputnik (12 million doses) ).

It is recalled that the vaccination process in the country started on 2 March, initially covering health professionals, teachers, the elderly, security forces and at-risk patients.

Immunization of 54 percent of the Angolan population is expected, with a total of 16,823,284 people over 16 years of age.
