Southern Africa remains the most affected region, with 1,961,426 infected and 61,850 dead associated with contagion with the disease. In this region, South Africa, the country hardest hit by the covid-19 on the continent, records 1,576,320 cases and 54,186 deaths.
North Africa is the second most affected area, with 1,380,320 infected and 39,167 fatalities.
East Africa accounts for 594,838 infections and 10,951 deaths, while in West Africa the number of infections is 455,034 and that of deaths is 6019. In Central Africa, there are 153,717 cases of infection and 2433 deaths recorded, the same number as 24 hours ago. .
Egypt, which is the second African country with the most fatalities, after South Africa, has 13,107 deaths and 253,514 infected, followed by Tunisia, with 10,352 deaths and 301,627 cases of infection. Morocco accounts for 509,465 cases of infection and 8999 deaths associated with covid-19.
Among the countries most affected are also Ethiopia, with 3570 fatalities and 253,120 infections, and Algeria, with 3217 dead and 121,112 infected.
In relation to Portuguese-speaking countries, Mozambique recorded 809 deaths and 69,715 cases, followed by Angola (583 deaths and 25,710 cases of infection), Cape Verde (208 deaths and 22,586 cases), Equatorial Guinea (107 deaths and 7559 cases) , Guinea-Bissau (67 dead and 3726 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (35 killed and 2292 cases).
