According to Novo Jornal, in a presidential order, the President, João Lourenço, approved the reinforcement of the credit line, which was signed in 2017 by the Executive of José Eduardo dos Santos with a limit of 91 million dollars.

In 2018, during a visit to the works of the hospital unit, Silvia Lutucuta revealed that the hospital will house 300 beds and services. The new project also foresees that the hospital will be composed of five towers, with three floors each, in an area of 30 thousand square meters.

With these works, budgeted at US$ 157 million, the unit will no longer be called Sanatório de Luanda and will be baptized as Multidisciplinary Institute.

"The Sanatorium Hospital of Luanda, after the conclusion of the works will no longer have the name Sanatorium Hospital and will not be only to attend patients with tuberculosis. It will be a Multidisciplinary Institute that will treat all respiratory diseases, some tropical diseases and will also give a very special attention to heart surgery," said the governor, at the time.

The project, which is the responsibility of Omatapalo, was expected to be completed in August 2020.
