Country records five more deaths and 222 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours

The country recorded five more deaths due to covid-19 and 222 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 24,883 infections since the pandemic began, according to official data.

The Multisectoral Commission for the Prevention and Fight against Covid-19 revealed that, of the new 222 cases, 214 were registered in the province of Luanda, three in Cabinda, two in Huambo, one in Benguela, and the same number in Cuanza Norte and Cuanza Sul.

In the same period 235 recoveries from the disease were recorded.

Angola totals 570 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and 22,882 recovered patients.

The laboratories processed in the last 24 hours 1909 samples, out of a cumulative 478,519.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,046,134 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 142.8 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
