Covid-19: Angola with 143 new cases, two deaths and 47 recoveries in 24 hours

Angola registered 143 new cases of covid-19 in 24 hours, as well as two deaths and 47 recoveries from the disease, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, announced Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 133 were registered in the province of Luanda, seven in Kwanza Norte, one in Malanje, one in Uige and one in Zaire, with ages between 7 and 71, 116 being males and 27 females, said a document signed by Mufinda.

According to the health authorities, two deaths were registered in the province of Luanda, aged 60 and 72.

47 people were considered recovered from the disease, 27 of them in Luanda, 19 in Huíla and one in Bié, between 7 and 87 years old.

Angola now totals 24,661 cases since the pandemic began, including 565 deaths, 22,647 recovered from the disease, and 1449 active cases.

Among the active cases, 10 are in critical condition and 13 in serious condition.

Laboratories have processed 2640 samples, out of a cumulative 476,610 samples, with a cumulative positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,031,441 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 141.9 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by French news agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
