Covid-19: Angola with 129 new cases, two deaths and three recoveries in 24 hours

Angola has recorded 129 new cases of covid-19, as well as two deaths and three recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Of the new cases, 101 were registered in the province of Luanda, 11 in Huila, seven in Kwanza Sul, four in Benguela, three in Cabinda and three in Zaire, aged between 3 and 82 years, with 97 males and 32 females, the daily bulletin said.

According to the health authorities two deaths were registered in the province of Luanda, both males, aged 48 and 52.

Three people were considered recovered from the disease, all in the province of Luanda, aged between 26 and 39 years.

Angola now totals 24,518 cases since the pandemic began, including 563 deaths, 22,600 recovered and 1355 active cases.

Among the active cases, seven are in critical condition and 13 in serious condition.

Laboratories have processed 2465 samples, out of a cumulative 473,970 samples, with a cumulative positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

Since the start of vaccination on March 2, 380,632 people have been vaccinated, with 174 having been inoculated during the past 24 hours.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,020,765 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 141.2 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

According to the most recent data from the Africa CDC, the continent has exceeded more than 4.42 million cases of covid-19 since the pandemic began, including 117,890 deaths.

The disease is transmitted by a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
