Three more deaths and 144 new cases of covid-19

The country has recorded 144 more positive cases of covid-19 and three more deaths, bringing the total to 557 deaths, and 29 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, health authorities announced Wednesday.

Luanda, Benguela, Moxico, Cunene, Cabinda, Zaire, Huila and Lunda Sul are the provinces where new cases were registered with ages between 2 and 86 years old.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, laboratories processed 2030 samples by RT-PCR and the cumulative points to 463,661 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.1 percent.

The hospital units are following 112 inpatients and 48 people are in institutional quarantine.

Angola, which has been in a situation of public calamity since May 26, 2020, whose 12th extension is in effect, now has 23,841 positive cases of covid-19, with 1040 active, 557 deaths and 22,144 recovered from the disease.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,961,387 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 137.4 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by French news agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
