In a statement published on its website, the BNA said that the competition "aims to select the best design proposal for the commemorative coin of the 20th anniversary of the peace agreements.

The contest is open to Angolan citizens and foreigners residing in the country, the central bank said, stressing that this is part of a "set of initiatives that aim to honor the heralds and cultivators of peace in Angola, hard won on April 4, 2002, as well as enhance the creative spirit of the respective citizens, challenging them to illustrate the Peace Accords in Angola.

Eight million kwanzas are available for the contest's prizes. According to the BNA note, the first place winner will receive five million kwanzas. The second and third places will receive two million and one million kwanzas, respectively, as well as an honorable mention.

According to Angop, those interested in participating in the contest must meet certain requirements: be Angolan or a foreigner residing in the country, be 18 or older (to be done by the end of this year) and submit only one drawing that must be original and individual.

The drawings must be submitted until June, advances Angop, adding that the winning drawing will be the face of the commemorative coin of the 20th anniversary of Peace.

The launch of the contest took place this Sunday, April 4, the day that celebrated the 19th anniversary of the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation.
