“Costura para Todos”: Art and Culture Foundation produces masks for disadvantaged families on the island of Luanda

As a way to guarantee protection and reduce the pressure that covid-19 caused on the personal finances of several needy families, the Arte e Cultura Foundation decided to present the project “Costura para Todos”.

:

The masks - made by housekeepers on the island with supervision - will be distributed to the most needy on the island of Luanda with the support of the communal administration, who will provide a health technician to help get the message out about the need to use this personal protective equipment .

"More than just distributing the masks to disadvantaged families, we want to inform them about this disease, covid-19, mainly about how the mask should be used and other precautions to be taken to avoid contamination", said the director for the area foundation, Xavier Narciso, in a statement sent to VerAngola.

The official also revealed that the "Costura para Todos" project is also aimed at training and entrepreneurship of women from the island, mostly dedicated to domestic work.

The foundation created conditions so that these women can, from home, produce the masks that will later be distributed. For this purpose, two professionals will be available, each with a sewing and cutting machine and the necessary raw materials to facilitate the work.
