João Lourenço takes on new ministers and praises “modesty” of those who pass to secretaries of state

The President of the Republic, who gave new governors this Wednesday's office, praised some of the former ministers who agreed to pass on to secretaries of state, in the framework of the merger of some ministries, highlighting the example of this “modesty” gesture.

The head of state was speaking at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, at the inauguration ceremony of the new government, remodeled Monday, following the reduction in the number of ministries, which went from 28 to 21 ministerial bodies.

"I would like to take this opportunity to, very sincerely, recognize the gesture of simplicity, of modesty, that some, who until a few days ago served as ministers in different portfolios, accepted the invitation to, practically in the same ministry, where they were ministers. , to act as secretaries of state ", said João Lourenço.

These include former ministers Nuno Caldas Albino, Ana Paula Carvalho, Maria da Piedade de Jesus and Paula Coelho, who tutored, respectively, Social Communication, Spatial Planning, Culture and the Environment, and will now assume secretariats. of State in the same areas.

For the head of state, the example of these rulers "must be taken into due account" knowing the country's "political culture".

"I must confess that when I instructed the consultations to take place, I did not expect to get positive responses. I was surprised and this is to be welcomed, because we all know our political culture," he said.

On Monday, the head of state released the list of new members of the executive, highlighting the departure of Manuel Augusto from Foreign Affairs, replaced by his secretary of state, Tete António.

The long list of exonerations released by the Presidency's Civil House includes 17 ministers and 24 secretaries of state, as well as the secretary of the President of the Republic for Political, Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs and the director of the Office of Psychological Action and information from the Security House. of the President of the Republic.

Speaking to the media, the new Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Adjany Costa, said that she has the possibility to give an external view to the executive, "having field experience and technical experience".

Adjany Costa, 30, the newest minister of the Government of Angola also said that she intends to integrate "both the decisive part and the applicative part", integrating different components of the same ministry.

"I can't do anything even without having to absorb the experience of everyone who already works there and everyone who doesn't work, but which is part of the policies created by the ministry," he said.
