Increased production ensures gas supply to the entire country, Sonangol says

The Sociedade de Combustíveis de Angola ensured the normalization, throughout the national territory, of gas supply, taking into account an increase in production capacity of around 35 percent.

:

The state of emergency and the indication for confinement at home led to an increase in demand for domestic gas. In this way, Sonangol was forced, at the end of March, to reinforce its production capacity, putting in circulation about 150 thousand bottles per day, against the previous 90 thousand.

Thus, the company claims that the situation is already stabilized. "The situation is controlled throughout the country, including in the East," said Dionísio Rocha, responsible for Sonangol's Communication and Image department, quoted by Angop.

He also stressed the "good attitude" on the part of the sellers and the detention of traders who would have influenced price speculation. In this way, demand will also be stabilized.

When the state of emergency was declared, taking into account the covid-19 pandemic experienced worldwide, the great demand for gas by the population led to price speculation. A gas cylinder with 12 kilos cost between 4500 and 5000 kwanzas in the parallel market, when the official price was around 1200 kwanzas.
