Ministry of Justice resumes issuing Identity Cards and marking weddings

The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights will re-issue Identity Cards (ID) after services have closed due to the covid-19 pandemic. Identification documents will be issued at the Civil and Criminal Identification Offices.

The decision follows the presidential decree dated 24 April, which determines the opening of some services during the state of emergency.

The guardianship decided in a meeting on Sunday that only the requests for the 1st and 2nd way of ID will be issued.

According to a statement from the ministry, cited by the newspaper Jornal de Angola, "only deliveries, 1st and 2nd copies should be attended, and the renewals are cancelled, taking into account that the aforementioned presidential decree authorizes the use of documents expired during this period.

However, the BI issuing service will operate at half gas: only half of the staff will be working and these will be distributed by rotating shifts. The note also indicates that the service will only be open from 8 am to 3 pm and will only work with appointments.

Therefore, those who want to renew their ID will have to call and make an appointment. Only people with an appointment will be attended, notify the guardianship.

"Once the appointment process is created, users are recommended to go to the services only at the times scheduled on the appointment," he adds.

The ministry also reveals that marriages can be rescheduled, but can only be done at the registry offices and only the grooms, godfathers and parents of the grooms can be present.

All persons going to this service must wear a mask and disinfect their hands before entering, always keeping a safe distance.
