Disobedience to the state of emergency leads to 337 arrests in 24 hours

More than 330 people have been detained in the past 24 hours, including 10 pastors, with the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) spokesman lamenting the continued disobedience of many citizens to the state of emergency.

:

Valdemar José, who was carrying out an operational assessment of the last 24 hours in Luanda this Monday, noted that there was an increase in arrests resulting from disobedience and failure to comply with exceptional measures of the state of emergency, which rose to 337.

The MININT official said that citizens continue to circulate to use services that could be done from home, such as using ATMs, filling bank branches, especially abroad, having also identified citizens trying to cross provinces in goods trucks. .

He again appealed to religious leaders to comply with the measures, indicating that several pastors "from some religious denominations" were again arrested who insist on celebrating services, which are currently banned in an attempt to curb the spread of covid-19.

In Namibe, a pastor from the Mission Evangélica Espírito Santo church was detained, while in Huíla, seven pastors were arrested who dedicated themselves to a home worship service, "putting the pastor and his family at risk".

In Saurimo, a secretary and an administrator of a church were arrested who were also holding a service in a house and, in Cuanza Sul, two pastors and two faithful from the Evangelical Congregational church, also in a domestic religious practice.

Two traders were also arrested for speculation, 167 people for violating borders, 23 informal markets closed and 11 commercial establishments and four football matches were dispersed, and more than 300 collective taxis and mototaxis were also seized.

There were also collected 1146 citizens "who continued to circulate" illegitimately through several city streets.
