According to the BNA's website, 22 sanction cases were filed against 16 banks and five against non-banking financial institutions between 2 January and 31 March.
The 16 proceedings brought against banks culminated in the application of pecuniary sanction measures, with a total value of 62.250 million kwanzas, with all fines being paid voluntarily and three admonitions registered.
Of these cases, five related to foreign exchange infringements (failure to comply with the duty to report on foreign exchange transactions involving the import of goods, the rules on compulsory reserves and the rules on enhanced due diligence) and the rest to financial conduct.
These included breaches of the obligation to report on the self-assessment questionnaire (1), on complaints (2), information within the scope of bank deposits (1) and execution of bank transfers in national currency (7).
Within the scope of the five lawsuits against non-banking financial institutions, fines of 10.517 million kwanzas were imposed, with one breach of an exchange rate nature and the remaining five of a prudential nature (failure to comply with corporate governance rules, duty to report quarterly balance sheets for 2018, rules and operating procedures of foreign exchange offices, adequacy of the minimum share capital and information on credit volume).
