BNA extends the granting of subsidized credit to 17 more products

Banco Nacional de Angola extended the granting of subsidized credit to producers of essential goods with supply deficits to 17 products, increasing the minimum amount that should be granted by banks to 2.5 percent of net assets.

According to information published on Saturday on the website of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), the subsidized financial conditions for the production of essential goods that have supply deficits include the raw material and the investment necessary for its production, including the acquisition of technology , machines and equipment.

Rice, hygiene items, poultry, cattle, goat, pig, drinks, including juices, sugar cane, cement, coffee, packaging, beans, tropical fruit, vegetables, milk, wood, corn, edible oil, commercial fishing and aquaculture, soap and detergents, building paint and glass are included in this list.

The notice now published updates the rules previously established, extending the range of products that can be financed and increases the minimum amount that should be granted by banks by the end of 2020, from 2.0 percent of their net assets to 2.5 Percent.

Priority will be given to granting credit to cooperatives and small and medium-sized companies, the BNA also points out, noting that more than 500 new projects for small and medium-sized companies can be financed under more favorable conditions throughout 2020.

The BNA also updated the rules for hiring and operating bank agents to increase the population's access to financial products and services, particularly in remote locations.

Among these, we highlight the widening of eligibility and the range of services to be provided by the banking agent, minimum clauses that should be included in the service provision contract signed between the banking agent and the contracting banking financial institution, evaluation criteria and responsibilities and duties of bank agents and contracting banking financial institutions.
