Kero will invest 830 million kwanzas in the modernization of its 12 stores

The Accord Group, owner of the Kero hypermarket chain, has announced a series of investments and initiatives to strengthen its position in the country's retail sector. With a plan to modernize its 12 stores in operation, the company expects to invest 830 million kwanzas over the course of 2025.

"The goal is to ensure a high standard of quality and efficiency, investing in both the remodeling of infrastructure and the training of teams", says Hugo Moutinho, CEO of the Accord Group, in a statement sent to VerAngola.

Since taking over management of Kero in 2022, the Accord Group has already invested around 5 billion kwanzas in revitalizing the brand, having reopened stores in Luanda, Benguela, Lobito, Lubango and Huambo, the manager said.

Despite the ongoing investments, expanding the network is not a priority at the moment. "The most important thing for us is to consolidate our 12 existing stores and enhance the customer experience, who can now find more than 22,000 items in our stores", he highlights. Kero currently works with more than 500 Angolan suppliers and offers more than 22,700 product references in its stores.

One of the main new features this year is the reformulation of the Kero Card, which is now part of the Kero Club, a loyalty program that offers benefits such as discounts of up to 50 percent on selected products and access to benefits in more than 150 establishments, including pharmacies, opticians and leisure services.

In terms of strategic partnerships, the agreement with the Sonae Group stands out, making Kero the exclusive distributor of the Continente, Kasa, My Label and Boost brands in Angola. This collaboration aims to expand the range of products with international quality and food safety standards, adds the press release.

The investment also extends to enhancing the consumer experience, with the introduction of the new Kero Pronto restaurant concept, which includes a cafeteria, a pizzeria and a charcoal grill restaurant, thus expanding the gastronomic options within the stores.

"Our priority is to consolidate Kero's presence in the Angolan market, promoting a sustainable and consumer-centric retail model. Each of our initiatives is aligned with this strategy, ensuring that Kero remains a trusted reference", concludes Hugo Moutinho.
