The results obtained in this first year of implementation of the project were presented last Friday, within the scope of the North Coast Entrepreneurship Fair.
At the event, held at the Ambriz Marine School and where the "role of entrepreneurial women from Ambriz, Nzeto and Porto Amboim in the lives of local communities" was highlighted, it was announced that 7000 women benefited from this project, 400 fishermen received training, more than 30 cooperatives were created, and it was possible to integrate more than 2000 women into cooperatives.
"On the occasion, the results of the first year of activity of this social project were released, highlighting its positive impact on the communities of Nzeto and Ambriz and the transformation it brought to the lives of local populations. To date, 7000 women have benefited from the project, 400 fishermen have received training, more than 30 cooperatives have been created, and 2400 women have been integrated into cooperatives and community savings groups," reads a statement from ANPG sent to VerAngola.
The guests, in addition to watching the presentation of the project and its results, also visited the North Coast Entrepreneurship Fair, "which had 48 exhibitors from the communes of Nzeto (Comuna Sede and Mussera), Ambriz (Comuna Sede, Bela Vista and Tabi), Porto Amboim and Amboim, who brought to the site manufactured products such as fishmeal, fruit and vegetable products, Mwenho da Gabela coffee, fish, musseque flour and others".
On the occasion, the administrator of Nzeto, Katuzeico Pinda, thanked, on behalf of the governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, for the implementation of the project.
"Here in Nzeto we feel the positive difference created by ANPG's vision, and by the field work of TotalEnergies and World Vision. One of the ladies who spoke here today demonstrated the resilience of our communities and their ability to seize opportunities, come rain or shine. And so, what we can hope for is that projects like Nkola triple in our community and help us to be more and better, because it is here that much of real life happens and it is here that we need this differentiating support", he said.
António Mateus, director of Ambriz, highlighted the fact that the project is "a project to integrate the North Coast, which covers populations from two Angolan provinces (Bengo and Zaire) and which is improving the socio-economic conditions of households in a comprehensive way and, at the same time, defining and improving community participation; strengthening organizational, technical and business capacities through the implementation of successful, inclusive and sustainable income generation initiatives; and improving community knowledge on health, nutrition and the environment."
"The Nkola project, which is estimated to last two years and has a strong emphasis on social cohesion, will benefit 7000 inhabitants and is a concrete example of the commitment and dedication that the National Concessionaire and Block 17 have assumed within the scope of their social responsibility policies. I would like to remind you that 28 fishing cooperatives have already been revitalized, 155 training activities have been carried out in agricultural business plans, 170 farmers have been trained, 25 urban businesses have been created and 36 community savings groups have been created", said Paulo Fernandes, manager of Block 17 and who represented ANPG on the occasion.
"This activity is part of the Nkola social project, which aims to transform the economic and social life of the communities of the North Coast and which, in its first year of activity, has already presented concrete and impactful results. As a long-standing partner, TotalEnergies continues to demonstrate its contribution to the economic and social development of the country and reinforces its deep commitment to an increasingly sustainable future", said Rui Rodrigues, member of the Steering Committee of TotalEnergies Angola.
According to the statement, the implementation of this project "is the responsibility of the non-governmental organization World Vision International".
"This project, which benefits 7000 people in the two municipalities (including cooperatives and fishermen's associations), aims to promote community associations, strengthen organizational, technical and business capacities through successful, inclusive and sustainable income generation initiatives, and improve community knowledge on health, nutrition and the environment," the note also says.
Authorities from Bengo and Zaire, "representatives of the National Concessionaire, TotalEnergies Angola, the operator leading the project, other partners in Block 17, and members of the community" were present at the event.
