US-Africa summit in Luanda is an “opportunity” for the Trump administration to see what Angola can offer

The US-Africa summit, to be held in Luanda in June this year, is an “opportunity” for the Trump administration to see what Angola can offer. The consideration was made by Liser Forizelle, president and CEO of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) – an American entity that promotes the aforementioned summit –, after having been received, this Wednesday, in audience by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

Quoted in a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the official said that "the June summit in Luanda will be an opportunity for the Trump administration to see what, under the leadership of President João Lourenço, Africa in general, and Angola in particular, can offer in terms of economic and financial development".

Held in the office of the President of the Republic, the meeting served to address aspects related to the preparation of the United States-Africa Business Summit, which is scheduled to take place between June 22 and 25 in the country's capital.

"The meeting in the office of the President of the Republic served precisely to analyze aspects related to the preparation of the announced business summit, which should bring together over 1500 participants," says the note.

On the occasion, Forizelle confirmed that the preparation was going "well".

"It was a great pleasure to have this meeting with President João Lourenço," the CCA president told the press, adding that preparations for the event "are going well."
