After the hearing, which took place at the Presidential Palace, Sanchez said that the construction of a pharmaceutical industry in Angola is under discussion, with the aim of the country becoming self-sufficient in terms of medicine production.
"We are discussing the construction of a pharmaceutical industry here in Angola so that the country can begin to have self-sufficiency in the production of medicines," said Carlos Sanchez, in statements to the press, cited in the Presidency's note.
On that occasion, the head of EMS "made it clear that this was the essential theme of his meeting with the President of the Republic".
Contacts with Angolan authorities for this purpose are focused on technical issues, so that works can begin soon, said Carlos Sanchez, who did not reveal the value of the investment.
João Lourenço receives President of the African Union (AU) Commission in Luanda
Also this Wednesday, the President of the Republic and also President of the AU, João Lourenço, met with the President of the AU Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
The meeting took place in Luanda, late morning this Wednesday.
"Upon leaving the Presidential Palace, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, who is of Djibouti nationality, told journalists that he welcomes the fact that he is making his first trip to Angola as President of the African Union Commission," said the Presidency, in another note to which VerAngola had access.
At the meeting, according to Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, "security and peace on the African continent were discussed, especially the situation prevailing in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo".
The two officials spoke equally about Somalia "taking into account that President João Lourenço is completely involved in these matters".
"The need to strengthen infrastructure on the continent and the development of Africa, in general, were also topics discussed during the meeting, as detailed to journalists by the President of the African Union Commission", reads the statement.
