To monitor national seas, the Executive informs that it will, in addition to drones, also use automatic identification systems and continuous monitoring of vessels.

"The Executive will use Automatic Identification Systems (AIS), Continuous Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) and drones for the inspection and sustainable management of the fishing fleet", says the Government, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

The aforementioned technologies, authorized by presidential decree no. 56/25, of February 25, will allow "more effective control of activities at sea, ensuring transparency in the licensing of vessels and the preservation of marine resources".

The aforementioned presidential decree determines new rules for certifying and licensing fishing vessels operating in the country.

"The implementation of integrated data platforms is also part of the strategy, in order to enable more efficient management, based on the collection and analysis of information in real time", says the statement.

The decree "adjusts the licensing of vessels to the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) of each fishery, ensuring that fishing capacity remains within the limits that guarantee the regeneration of resources".

The need to adopt "sustainable financing strategies, including green financing, public-private partnerships (PPP), crowdfunding and microfinance" is also highlighted.

"The modernization of the fishing fleet and supporting infrastructure could also benefit from international cooperation, through agreements and technical support aimed at the sustainable development of the sector," the statement points out.

Another axis of the diploma is related to the training of professionals in the sector, through the "continuous training of fishermen and fleet managers, with themes such as sustainable fishing practices, resource management, use of new technologies and development of management skills".

"The objective is to ensure that operators in the sector are prepared to use new technologies and adopt exploration methods that minimize environmental impact," explains the government, which adds that, with this decision, it wants to "regulate fishing activity and also promote the economic and social sustainability of communities."
