The distinction comes at a time when BAI has strengthened its position as a reference in the Angolan market, having recorded a net result of 151 billion kwanzas and a 52 percent growth in net credit, reaching 707 billion kwanzas in 2024.
Despite the economic challenges, the bank maintained a strategy focused on sustainability and the growth of its client portfolio, having reached a total of 2.5 million active clients, and the expansion of its service network to 888 distribution channels, which includes 155 branches and dependencies, 708 banking agents and 25 self-service centers.
In its official note, Global Finance highlighted BAI for its strong financial performance and capacity for innovation, evidenced by the growth of BAI Directo, a digital channel that served 864 thousand customers and processed 63.8 million operations throughout 2024. Continuous investment in technology, including the implementation of the Information Systems Executive Program (PESI), has been a strategic pillar for the bank's modernization and operational efficiency.
BAI ended 2024 with regulatory equity of 24.2 percent, one of the highest levels in the national financial system, ensuring solidity and resilience to face the sector's challenges.
BAI's Executive Committee Chairman, Luís Lélis, emphasizes that this distinction "recognizes BAI's solid growth and ability to adapt in a challenging context. In 2024, we accelerated the expansion of our customer base, reinforced BAI Directo as our main relationship channel and maintained a robust financial structure. We will continue investing in digitalization, modernizing our technological infrastructure and expanding our credit offering, ensuring a more efficient and accessible service for companies and individuals."
