Federation admits debt to national football team

The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) admitted the existence of debts owed to players from the national team who recently competed in the African Cup of Nations (CAN2023), which was held in Côte d'Ivoire.

:

The debts relate to prizes from Angola's games up to the quarter-finals of the competition, a phase in which the team under the command of Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves was eliminated.

"The debt that exists is related to game prizes, until we reach the quarter finals, but they will be paid in due time” guaranteed the FAF.

The federative body also said that the daily allowances had already been paid, and that the rumors that the Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves had been without wages for six months were nothing more than false information.

At CAN2023, the Angolan team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Nigeria, after a 1-0 defeat.
