According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Salva Kiir Mayardit began his visit this Monday. "Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, began this Monday a 48-hour working visit to Angola, at the invitation of João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola", reads a brief note from the ministry, to which VerAngola had access.

Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as other figures, welcomed the President of South Sudan, upon his arrival at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.

Salva Kiir Mayardit's visit to the country takes place within the scope of the common interest of sharing information regarding the peace process in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in line with the processes in Luanda and Nairobi, according to a statement, cited by Angop.

Therefore, the President of South Sudan, as acting president of the East African Community, will analyze matters relating to the situation in that country with local authorities.

It should be remembered that both Angola and South Sudan are part of the International on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), founded in 1994, aiming to resolve peace and security matters in the region.
