"It is imperative that the war in Ukraine be brought to an end," said João Lourenço, during a meeting with Xi, at the Great Palace of the People, next to Tiananmen Square, in the center of Beijing.

The conflict with Russia "must necessarily end around a conversation table, to achieve definitive peace and guarantee Ukraine's national sovereignty", he added.

On his second official visit to China since being elected, João Lourenço defended the release of the Israeli hostages and the immediate end of the Israeli military offensive, which he described as disproportionate against the population of the Gaza Strip.

The governor also called for the end of settlements and the definitive end of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with the creation of a State of Palestine that is internationally recognized.

"It is the only definitive solution to bring freedom and dignity to the Palestinian people and truly guarantee the security of Israel and the people of that troubled region", he stressed.

Assuring that Luanda and Beijing "share the same values" in matters of foreign policy, including the principles of non-aggression and respect for the sovereignty of States, the leader pointed to the "urgent need" to carry out "profound reforms" at the UN.

"The latest events in the international arena have confirmed the urgent need to make profound reforms in the United Nations system, in financial institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, but above all in the Security Council, for have proven themselves over time to be out of date in the context of today's world, almost 80 years after the end of the Second World War", he stated.

The head of state pointed to the "bad moment" that Africa is going through, as the emergence of terrorism coexists with "unconstitutional changes" in several countries on the continent.

"The wars in Europe and the Middle East have practically forgotten the conflict in Sudan, a country on the brink of an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with a high number of human casualties that could increase with hunger and disease, internally displaced people, refugees and great destruction of infrastructures", he pointed out.

The leader defended that China's role must always be taken into account in the configuration of a new world order and pointed to the approval of a joint declaration that reflects the convergence between the two countries.

"We left China very satisfied with the openness and understanding we found and which encourages us to be increasingly closer in defending common principles and interests", said Lourenço.

The President's visit program also included participation in a business forum on investment in Angola, and in working meetings with Chinese businesspeople who already operate in the country or intend to do so in the future.

On the last day of the visit, João Lourenço traveled to the province of Shandong (east), to make contacts with the textile, pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors.

João Lourenço had also scheduled a meeting with representatives of the Angolan community living in China.
