Angola adds first defeat in qualifying for CAN2023

The Angolan football team, coached by the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, lost this Thursday by 1-0 in their visit to Ghana, in a match for the third round of Group E qualifying for the African Cup of Nations (CAN2023).

The only goal of the match was scored by Antoine Semenyo already in added time, at 90+5 minutes.

Angola will play again in four days, in Luanda, against Ghana again, and only the victory matters for the Angolans to dream about their presence in CAN2023, which will be held in 2024, in Ivory Coast.

In the other group game, the Central African Republic beat Madagascar 3-0.

With this result, Angola, which added the first defeat, dropped to third place in Group E, with four points, the same as the Central African Republic, which is second, behind leader Ghana, which has seven. Madagascar is bottom of the group with one point.
