Gangsta activist refuses to comply with coercion measures for "fear for life"

Angolan activist Nelson Adelino Dambo, known as 'Gangsta', said this Monday that he "fears for his life" and refuses to comply with the term of identity and residence, the coercive measure imposed by justice, and preferred to camp in an uncertain part.

:

"I didn't leave the country, I'm in Angola, they have the SME (Migration and Foreigners Service) to confirm whether I left the country or not. I set up a structure for a civic campaign, I am camping, I will not sign the term of identity and residence, because, [by accepting] these coercive measures, I would be complicit with the dictatorship", said this Monday the activist to Lusa.

'Gangsta', an Angolan activist who is very critical of power, said that, since March 31, 2022, he has been living under an identity and residence term, a measure applied by the Attorney General's Office (PGR), with the Criminal Investigation Service ( SIC), after being made an arguido.

The coercive measures, which according to the activist result from the criticism he makes of power and the President, determine periodic presentations to the authorities, not to leave the country or Luanda without the authorization of the PGR, not to change residence and not to be absent from it for more than five days without communicating, coercive measures that he refuses to comply with.

"I live under a term of identity and residence, but why? Because I speak. Five crimes have been charged against me, namely criminal association, instigation to rebellion, instigation to civil disobedience, outrage against the President of the Republic, but why? Because I speak? No, I do not agree, I no longer sign any periodical presence document at SIC", he shot.

The activist, who says he fears for his life and attributes responsibilities to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, stressed that he will be away from home and is available to bear the consequences.

The camp "that I set up should last until I am captured by the criminal MPLA government (party in power), with its archaic and medieval methods, because they don't want to talk to me, the only thing they want is to put me in jail", he stressed.

According to the activist, João Lourenço is an "illegitimate president, not elected by the people", whom he accuses of having "stolen the popular vote and the dream of Angolans".

"He (the Angolan President) used coercive instruments, namely the muscular presence of the police and the Angolan armed forces, including the secret services, to remain in power, I will not obey unjust laws, coercive measures why?", he questioned.

'Gangsta' also criticized the SIC agents for resorting to what he classifies as a "pressure method as psychological terrorism", namely with his sisters, recently arrested and questioned about his whereabouts, both, however, already at liberty.

What motivated this fuss that he was on the run "were the last 'lives' I'm doing", he explained, stressing: "SIC says that I continue to instigate civil disobedience and outrage towards the President of the Republic".

He also said that his support for the United Patriotic Front (FPU), an electoral platform made up of UNITA, the Democratic Block and the political project PRA JÁ Servir Angola, in the 2022 election campaign is one of the main reasons for SIC to "intensify this campaign of attacks" against you.

"Because from a chronological point of view, I am under coercive measures on March 31, 2022, I could not leave Luanda, but even so I followed the FPU campaign and this generated in the conscience of the MPLA and the SIC staff a inflamed rage", he stressed, concluding: "I fear for my life, of course, but make it clear that if I die, it was João Lourenço who killed me".
