German businessmen interested in the renewable energy business in Angola

The German ambassador accredited to Angola, Stefan Traumann, said that German businessmen are interested in investing in the country, more specifically in the renewable energy sector.

:

The revelation was made by the person in charge when he was received in an audience by the Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João. The occasion also served for the minister to appeal for investments in the agribusiness sector and in the development of startups in Angola.

It should be recalled that the two countries advanced, in the middle of last year, with a project for the joint exploration of green hydrogen. Subsequently, the German-Angolan Hydrogen Office, also known as 'H2 diplo', was created. The mechanism's function is to be a lever for the production, use and export of hydrogen in Angola.

In March 2022, the state oil company Sonangol even signed an agreement with the German companies Conjucta GmbH and Gauff GmbH & Co. Engineering Kg for setting up a factory for the production of green hydrogen in Angola.

Angola, as one of the main oil exporters, has "very favorable" conditions for the production of green hydrogen, produced exclusively from renewable energy sources. In this way, the Government has expressed its interest in developing a national strategy for hydrogen, trying to boost this potential new industrial sector.

"Due to its geographical, hypsometric characteristics and abundance of water resources, Angola stands out as a country with high potential in renewable energy sources", explains Sonangol.
