"Either one or the other is smaller than the Angolan one, but they started longer ago and have markets that are a little more diversified. We are working on this process of sharing knowledge, it is being very interesting", said Walter Pacheco, in interview with the Lusa agency, praising the "capacity for creativity" and the "good innovation ecosystem".
"The Cape Verde stock exchange is relatively small, but with a capacity for creativity and the development of new products", considered Pacheco, pointing to the 'blue bonds' ('blue' bonds, debt issues to finance projects linked to the sea), recently issued and whose resources will be used to finance small fishermen.
The head of Bodiva added that "it does not have a large volume, but it has a great economic impact", stressing that this type of initiative can be replicated in Angola.
"It is obvious that our market allows for larger dimensions, but we have been observing this creativity", he said, underlining that Bodiva should launch 'blue bonds' and 'green bonds' this year ('green' bonds, to finance projects sustainable).
As for the Mozambican Stock Exchange, it has other specificities: "It is a stock exchange as traditional as ours, the products are as traditional as ours, but they managed to develop some interesting solutions".
The chief executive of Bodiva gave as an example one of the largest listed on the Mozambican stock exchange – the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Dam – one of the largest dams in Africa.
"It is also another way of financing or refinancing our own infrastructures", stressed the official.
Walter Pacheco also pointed out Bodiva's contributions to its counterparts: "Obviously, they are also gathering some of our knowledge at other levels, not only in terms of the institutional relationship with some international investors, but also in terms of the regulatory architecture", since Angola has specific regulations for investment funds.
At the Bodiva Forum, which takes place this Wednesday in Luanda, under the theme "O Mercado em Crescimento", will be present the presidents of the board of directors of the Stock Exchange of Cape Verde and Mozambique, and the chief executive for Africa of IIBank, who will discuss "Stock Market Growth in the SADC Region", and "The Stock Market and Sustainable Financing".
