"At its 9th festival, the film 'Nossa Senhora da Loja do Chinês' by Ery Claver won the award for Best Soundtrack at FESPACO - Pan-African Film Festival of Ouagadougou, which in its 28th edition had as theme 'African Cinema, Culture and Peace', was attended by director Ery claver who traveled to Burkina Faso at the invitation of the festival", reads a statement from Geração 80, sent to VerAngola.
Regarding the feature film's original music, according to the note, it "has the signature" of the musician Ismael Suama and coordination of César da Silveira.
Geração 80 refers, in the communiqué, that "it has been an unforgettable trajectory in almost 13 years of existence, and despite the many difficulties and the great challenges that" are faced every day, "it is a victory to have two films ("Ar Condicionado " and "Nossa Senhora da Loja do Chinês") in two consecutive editions of FESPACO competing in the festival's Etallon d'Or".
It should be noted that the film – which is showing at Cinema Fernando Lopes, in Lisbon, and where it will be shown this month – had its world premiere in August last year at the Locarno Film Festival.
In addition, stresses the note, the film won the Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the Festival Internacional du Film d'Amiens and was chosen for the Red Sea International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India, Porto Post Doc Film Festival, Festival do Rio, BFI London Film Festival, Film Fest Ghent and Göteborg Film Festival.
"For the Film Carnage critics, this film is an impressive debut for Ery Claver, it is intelligent and witty, and is shot in a style that feels established and graceful. Cláudia Púcuta gives a standout performance as Domingas, has an undeniable presence and it brings such a strong emotion while remaining understated. The unusual split the story makes between its characters and the way it leaves a fair amount of things unsaid slows it down slightly from its full potential, but is nevertheless a clear example of Ery Claver's sincere talent," reads the statement.
