IGAPE extends deadline for submission of proposals for privatization of Multitel

The Institute for the Management of State Assets and Shares (IGAPE) extended the deadline for submission of proposals for the public tender for the sale of the 90 percent shareholding in the company Multitel – Serviços de Telecomunicações to April 1.

:

According to IGAPE, the extension of the deadline aims to increase the time for preparing the conditions of the required requirements and obtaining the necessary clarifications, "in recognition of the difficulties expressed by some entities interested in participating in the contest".

Interested parties have until 3:30 pm on April 1 to submit their proposals to public tender n.º 11/2021.

The President, João Lourenço, authorized, in July last year, the sale of the 90 percent stake that the State holds in the telecommunications company, after considering that Multitel "does not meet the necessary conditions" for its privatization through the of an initial public offering on the stock exchange, as provided for in a presidential order of December 2020.

The State holds 90 percent of Multitel's share capital through PT Ventures (acquired in 2020 by Sonangol), with 40 percent, Angola Telecom, with 30 percent, and Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI), with 20 percent.

Multitel is one of the companies enrolled in the privatization program (Propriv) that Angola launched in 2019, with a list of 195 assets, to which another 16 were added and, later, 71 were withdrawn, totaling 140 companies.

This year, 63 assets/companies will be privatized and TV Cabo, Sonangalp, Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI) and Banco Caixa Angola will be listed on the stock exchange.
