Unitel will compensate customers for signal failures

Unitel assured that it will compensate customers of the 'plus 24-hour plan' for signal failures that occurred throughout the week.

Speaking at the end of a meeting with the National Telecommunications Institute (INACOM) to clarify the frequent signal failures, Miguel Geraldes, general director of Unitel, indicated that there have been problems in the voice and internet systems management programs.

The official, quoted by Angop, explained that customers who have the 'plus 24-hour plan' were the most affected and, therefore, will be compensated for losses, in a method that is still being analysed.

Miguel Geraldes did not mention the amount of financial losses, but ruled out the possibility of cyber attacks on 17, 26 and 27 February.

He also clarified that on February 17, there was a malfunction in the system for three hours, which harmed customers in general. On the 26th and 27th of February, an error appeared in the system.

Ale Fernandes, CEO of INACOM, also quoted by Angop, said that they are aware of the changes that the operator is making to update its network, adding that, taking into account the inconvenience caused, the operator assured INACOM that it is do an analysis of how it will compensate customers later this week.
