Mobile operator Unitel again affected by “instability” in the network

Unitel, the main Angolan telecommunications operator, reported this Sunday that its services have been “unstable” since Saturday due to an “occurrence” that is being resolved.

:

Due to the problem, thousands of users of the Unitel network in Angola are having difficulties making telephone calls, which happened for the second time this month.

On 17 February, Unitel registered at 5:30 pm local time a "breakdown of an important equipment included in one of the main data processing centers" in Luanda, which resulted in the unavailability of voice, data and SMS services until 10:30 pm of the same day.

The operator only guaranteed "total integrity" and return to normal services 24 hours later.

Unitel informed this Sunday that "the instability" that its services have registered since Saturday mainly affects Plano + customers and that the occurrence should be normalized "soon", although some customers may continue to experience disturbances when making calls.

The operator does not provide further explanations about what is at the origin of what happened.
