Portuguese were the ones who most acquired Angolan nationality in the last four years

The Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Francisco Queirós, announced this Tuesday that more than 600 citizens, mostly Portuguese and Sao Tome, acquired Angolan nationality, through marriage or naturalization, between 2017 and 2022.

The information was released this Tuesday by the official during a ceremony in which 13 foreign citizens, including Portuguese, swore allegiance to the country, the Constitution and Angolan laws after acquiring nationality by naturalization.

Francisco Queirós asked the new compatriots to continue "to contribute to the progress and economic and social development of Angola".

Portuguese lead the list of foreigners, who in the current Angolan legislature, between 2017 and 2022, acquired Angolan nationality, followed by Sao Tome, Cape Verdeans and Brazilians.

Felícia de Almeida Fraga, Portuguese married to an Angolan man and residing in Angola since 1989, quoted this Tuesday by Angop, said, on the occasion, that the process of acquiring Angolan nationality "was slow, but normal".

In Angola for more than 10 years, António Manuel Pereira, a native of São Tomé and Príncipe, considered that he identifies with the country and with Angolan society, as reported by the Angolan News Agency.

The process of granting Angolan nationality, through marriage or naturalization, is presided over by a monitoring committee, under the terms of the law that approves the regulation of nationality.
