PR calls on justice to continue “with the same consistency” in the fight against corruption in an election year

João Lourenço appealed this Tuesday to the justice organs to continue “with the same coherence” and more commitment, in the fight against corruption, impunity and economic crimes, despite being an election year.

"In this year of 2022, which is also the year of the fifth legislative elections in Angola, I am sure that the construction of the democratic rule of law will continue to bind the organs of justice. same coherence, the attributions assigned to them by the Constitution and the law, making an even greater commitment to the fight against corruption, impunity and economic crimes in general", said João Lourenço, who spoke this Tuesday, in the province of Huambo. , to the opening of the 2022 judicial year.

João Lourenço said that this fight must continue to be seen as an ongoing task of the State, with emphasis on the judicial system.

The head of state stressed that the fight against crimes against life, liberty, physical and moral integrity of people and against public and private goods must also continue to mark the performance of judicial bodies in this judicial year.

Another relevant aspect, highlighted João Lourenço, has to do with the environment, an area that he considered important to protect, "fighting crimes that violate environmental protection, whose degradation results from human action".

"These crimes have a very negative impact on the diversification of the economy and the development of the country, in addition to jeopardizing the future of the next generations", he added.

The President underlined that, despite everything that was done in the judicial year 2021 and previous years, it is necessary to continue to invest in the reform of justice and law and in the improvement of work infrastructures in the administration of justice.

In this sense, the head of state expressed the executive's commitment to continue to make investments to improve the human capital of justice, on an ongoing basis, "as demonstrated by the opening of another training course for justice auditors at INEJ [National Institute of Judicial Studies] this year 2022, with funding from the General Coffer of Justice".

"It is also necessary that we advance further in the field of infrastructure. For this judicial year of 2022, we intend to complete the infrastructure of the Courts of Appeal of Uíge and Saurimo [capital of the province of Lunda Sul]", he said.

According to João Lourenço, the executive is strongly committed to the computerization of the courts, aiming at the modernization of the judicial system, guaranteeing the optimization of justice and achieving "the long-awaited procedural speed".

"In fact, we must insist on the need for justice to act in good time, under penalty of losing its effect in resolving conflicts, or of clarifying with justice the responsibilities of the alleged criminals, of emphasizing their pedagogical and re-educational role. of citizens", he stressed.

To the operators of justice, the President urged them to continue with the same sense of State their noble mission in the administration of justice.
