The opening of the judicial year is a solemn act that constitutes a framework for the functioning of the courts of common jurisdiction, specifically the District Courts, Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court, "in a national context in which there are many challenges to the service provided by judicial operators ", highlights the note of the judicial instance.
The opening ceremony will also be attended by the President of the Portuguese Bar Association, Luís Paulo Monteiro, the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Grós and the Chief Counsel of the Supreme Court, Joel Leonardo, with João Lourenço giving the opening speech.
The act will have as its motto "For full justice, at the service of the citizen".
The judicial year runs from the 1st of March to the 21st of December of each calendar year.
