The National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and ExxonMobil Angola announced the milestone of 1,000 oil shipments reached in the Kizomba-A development project, offshore Block 15, starting from the start of the first oil production in 2004.

To celebrate this milestone, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and representatives of the ANPG visited Kizomba-A's Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel this Wednesday to witness first hand the 1,000th shipment and convey words of comfort to the teams deployed in offshore operations.

For Diamantino Azevedo "it is an important milestone that underlines the vitality of our oil industry, operated with cutting-edge technology, high levels of operational safety and respect for environmental standards".

In turn, the chairman of the Board of Directors of ANPG, Paulino Jerónimo, stressed that "Exxnonmobil is part of the group of partners that, through their technological investment and human capital, greatly contribute to making Angola a good place to do business ".

Despite the challenges generated by the cCovid-19, the Kizomba-A FPSO continued to produce safely and reliably, reaching its thousandth oil shipment in March, according to a statement sent to VerAngola.

"Achieving 1,000 oil shipments at our Kizomba-A facility is an important milestone for ExxonMobil Angola, its employees and contractors, as it represents the company's commitment to producing and supplying oil and gas on an ongoing basis. our state-of-the-art technology, highly skilled workforce and unwavering attention to safety and environmental performance to achieve new production milestones in the future," said ExxonMobil Angola Managing Director Melissa Bond.

The visit also marks the resumption of the TLP-A Platform Drilling Campaign, which is part of the Block 15 Redevelopment Project, following the agreement signed in 2019 between the Concessionaire and ExxonMobil Angola for the execution of a drilling program for years in the block, with a view to optimizing recovery and adding around 40,000 barrels of oil per day to Angola's production.

The Kizomba A project is part of the winning development strategy "Design One, Build Multiple" which was followed by the development of Kizomba B. The Kizomba A project includes the combination of a surface wellhead platform and subsea wells connected to one of the largest FPSO vessels in the world. It should be noted that since the beginning of production in 2004, 900 million barrels of oil have been exported to various destinations globally, in addition to 7 million barrels of oil having been delivered to the Luanda Refinery, thus helping to feed Angola's energy sector.

ExxonMobil Angola is the operator of Block 15 with a 36 percent stake, with partners BP Exploration (Angola) Limited (24 percent), ENI Angola Exploration B.V. (18 percent), Equinor Bloco 15 A.S. (12 percent) and Sonangol E.P. (10 percent), under the regulation and supervision of the ANPG.
