Preliminary study announces between 800 and 1000 million barrels of oil in the Ndungu 2 well

The National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and Eni advanced this Monday that “data collected to date allow preliminary assessment of estimated resources between 800 and 1000 million barrels of oil equivalent” in the Ndungu 2 well.

:

This is the largest accumulation discovered in block 15/06 since its award. The well is located approximately 130 kilometers from the coast and approximately 10 kilometers from FPSO Ngoma, in the West Hub of block 15/06.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola by the national concessionaire, the assessment of Ndungu 2 was carried out "five kilometers from Ndungu 1 and 40 meters from net oil pay (35th API), in the Lower Oligocene reservoirs", with good petrophysical properties. , confirming hydraulic communication with the discovery well.

The initial production phase of Ndungu started last February, through a producing well, and a second well is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022, to maximize the use of existing facilities at the West Pole. In parallel, evaluation during production will continue, to optimize returns and minimize risks, the document adds.

The development of the Ndungu field will now be improved "thanks to this significant increase in the resource base at the site", following a phased approach to exploit the global potential from a financial point of view, initially contributing to widening and increasing the Ngoma plateau, a unit floating production, storage and offloading.

Block 15/06 is operated by Eni Angola with a share of 36.84 percent. Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção (36.84 percent) and SSI Fifteen Limited (26.32 percent) make up the remaining contractor group.

In addition to Block 15/06, Eni is the operator of exploration blocks Cabinda Norte, Cabinda Centro, 1/14 and 28, as well as the Novo Consórcio de Gás (NGC), having interests in unoperated Blocks 0 (Cabinda) , 3/05, 3/05A, 14, 14 K/A-IMI, 15 and in Angola LNG.
