Bodiva will initially privatize 30 percent of the share capital for members

The administration of the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange (Bodiva) announced this Thursday that 30 percent of its share capital will be privatized, until June this year, only for Bodiva members (banks) and the rest will be by public offer.

:

According to Bodiva's executive director, Odair Costa, the Angolan stock exchange will be privatized in two phases and in the first, scheduled for next June, 30 percent of the share capital will be sold to members of the institution, most of which are commercial banks.

"Because they [Bodiva members] are members of the market, they are the ones who made Bodiva, that's why in this first phase and, as we recognize that they have the ability, being integrated in Bodiva, to make a greater contribution, we make this sale in a first phase of 30 percent destined to them", said the official when questioned by Lusa.

The second phase of the privatization of Bodiva, "already authorized by the holder of the executive power", President João Lourenço, for the sale of the remaining 70 percent of the share capital, will be carried out through "a public offer for sale and all investors will be able to become a shareholder in Bodiva".

Odair Costa, who was speaking to journalists as part of the third "Bodiva Forum", which takes place in Luanda, made it known that the authorities still do not have estimates of the financial inflow that should result from the sale of Bodiva.

"We are still in the evaluation phase, we are now concluding the hiring of the financial advisor and he will then carry out the evaluation and based on this evaluation we will have an idea of what the value will be that the market attributes to Bodiva", he stressed.

"Right now, we cannot advance precise figures yet," he stressed.

The privatization of Bodiva is part of the Government's Privatization Program (ProPriv) 2018-2022, which provides for the privatization of assets and/or public companies in the telecommunications, industry, banking, insurance, agriculture and other sectors.

Financing via stock exchange "as a catalyst for the real economy – constraints and opportunities" is the motto of the third "Bodiva Forum", when the Bodiva Markets Annual Report 2021 was also presented.
