First 30 percent of Bodiva will be privatized by June

Odair Costa, executive director of the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange (Bodiva), informed that the first 30 percent of Bodiva's share capital will be privatized by June.

:

"Still in 2022 we will privatize or sell 30 percent of Bodiva's capital", revealed the official, adding that the sale process is taking place via a public offer being directed to market members, since "they are the ones who made to grow Bodiva since 2014".

In an interview with Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the official clarified that the remaining 70 percent will go to auction between next year and 2024, in a process aimed at the "general public".

He also made it known that the process "is going well" and that they are currently hiring a financial and legal advisor to help with the process.

In the interview with RNA, Odair Costa also spoke about Bodiva's objectives for the next two years, having mentioned the conversion of the stock exchange into a "platform for financing the economy" as the main objective.

This transformation will make it possible for "companies to finance their projects through the issuance of financial instruments" and also allow, on the other hand, "investors to be able to monetize what their savings are".

Cited by RNA, Odair Costa mentioned that Bodiva will launch the reports market, "which will allow market agents to transact liquidity among themselves".

This launch is slated to take place next month, likely at Bodiva's annual forum, he indicated.

In addition, "a specific launch for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's)" is also being finalized.

"We understand that the bulk of the business sector are SMEs and what we did was to make the rules for issuing and admission to the market more flexible so that these companies could enter", he clarified.

The official also added that the companies will have technical assistance through an intermediary agent, called Sponcer. This position can be assumed by commercial banks, insurance companies, among other entities capable of guiding SMEs to comply with the rules of the stock market.
