National Library intends to increase the number of visits

The increase in the number of daily visits is one of the intentions of the National Library of Angola, with a view to promoting the habit of reading and writing in young people. According to Diana Afonso Luhuna, director-general of the institution, the library receives around 600 visits a day, but the objective is to increase that number in the near future.

To achieve this objective, the official revealed that, with the easing of restrictive measures against covid-19, they will initially return to partnerships with schools near and later in Luanda, invitations as well as other activities.

Cited by Angop, Diana Afonso Luhuna explained that "the idea is that all students can get to know the National Library of Angola", adding that they will "receive visits from reading animators in schools to encourage the habit of reading in students".

The information was provided as part of the lecture on "Women's reading and HIV prevention among young people and adolescents".

About the event, the official explained that it was part of Março Mulher and, as it is a library that is dedicated to the transmission of knowledge, they brought together students to elucidate them and awaken them to literature and writing.
