The field hospital, donated by the US Armed Forces Command for Africa (Africom), is installed in facilities adjacent to the municipal hospital in Soyo, and has a capacity for 40 patients, according to a statement from the US embassy.
The hospital is installed with a negative pressure system and air filtration technology, which isolates patients and prevents the virus or infectious diseases from spreading while patients are being treated.
On March 25, before and after the formal delivery and inauguration of the field hospital, the head of the US mission in Angola will donate boxes of different books to the local Media Library (a strong partner of the US Embassy) and will visit the place where it will be the future Soyo refinery was built.
Angola has totaled 21,733 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 527 deaths, 20,073 recovered and 1133 are active (including nine in critical condition and 13 serious).
